DAREDEVIL fundraiser Rebecca Roffe is getting ready for a stomach-churning challenge – abseiling down the side of one of Sheffield’s tallest buildings.

Rebecca, aged 30, will abseil the 120ft Owen Building on October 28 to raise money for the Red Cross.

The Sheffield Hallam University tower, opposite Sheffield train station, features the Sir Andrew Motion poem ‘What If?’ down its side.

Rebecca, from Banner Cross, who works for law firm Nabarro in Sheffield city centre, has already spent the summer volunteering as a Games Maker during the Olympics.

She said: “I have the abseil to keep my mind focused now! When I saw the Steel City Abseil advertised I jumped at the chance.”

Max Newton, community fundraiser for the Red Cross, said: “We’re incredibly excited about this event. It’s a thrilling and daring abseil down one of Sheffield’s most iconic buildings.

“You don’t need to be an adrenaline junkie – it’s open to everyone who, like Andrew Motion, might be thinking What If?...!”

Money raised will help people whose lives have been devastated by crises and disasters in Yorkshire and overseas.
