A PUB a mile away from the nearest village has been named district pub of the season for winter by Doncaster members of the Campaign for Real Ale.
The Haxey Gate Inn is a mile from Misterton and without a bus stop, but licensees Mark and Lynne Mason have made it a success with anglers from the nearby River Idle and members of Misterton Golf Club.
It also serves breakfast for the Boggins on the traditional Haxey Hood Day of January 6.
Dave Bartley, Camra spokesman, said: “Although not easy to get to, the Haxey Gate has a lot going for it and is well worth the effort.”
Members will be presenting the certificate on January 28.
