New mum Jessica Ennis-Hill has returned to light training after giving birth to her son, as the road to the 2016 Olympics in Rio begins.

Sheffield golden-girl Jess, who won heptathlon gold at the London 2012 Games, took a year out from athletics, gave birth to son Reggie in July and announced on her Instagram account: “Back in the gym… building back into training.

“Exciting and slightly scary! My journey to Rio starts now.”

It is expected that the 28-year-old will step up the intensity of her training over the next fortnight before beginning a full programme in early November.
