BUDDING ice dance star Millie Paterson could glide to glory when she skates for Britain in the first youth winter Olympics.

The 14-year-old from Rotherham and her skating partner Woody Carstairs, 17, are to compete at the Austrian event after they received the highest points in their age category at the British Ice Dance Championships last weekend.

The pair have only been working together for eight months and practise at Ice Sheffield, trained by Millie’s proud mum Nancy.

Clifton School pupil Millie, of Catcliffe, said: “It’s a great opportunity and I will really enjoy it.”

The Innsbruck 2012 Youth Winter Olympics are from January 13-22.
