Ice Age art on display at Crags

One of the British Museum’s greatest treasures, the Swimming Reindeer, is on display in a temporary exhibition at Creswell Crags Museum.

The free exhibition, The Swimming Reindeer: Ice Age Art and Storytelling, runs until Sunday, December 16, and provides a rare opportunity to see a unique piece of Ice Age art dating from about 13,000 years ago.

The piece has been sculpted from the tip of a woolly mammoth tusk using a flint knife and shows two reindeer, a male following a female in a pose described as swimming.
