AFTER performing to a packed arena the night before, X Factor winner Matt Cardle had the chance to get up close and personal with his admirers by signing copies of his life story in Sheffield.
A long – and mainly female – queue built up at WH Smith in Meadowhall as hundreds of fans clamoured to get their photo taken with the singer, and secure an all-important autograph in his book, My Story, billed as “the full account of Matt’s rollercoaster experience”.
The hardback tome tells the tale of Matt’s journey from his life as an Essex painter and decorator to appearing before millions of television viewers on ITV’s hit talent show, and scoring last year’s Christmas number one with Biffy Clyro cover When We Collide.
The book also touches on more personal matters, such as Matt’s battle with a rare kidney cancer as a baby.
Fans came from across South Yorkshire to meet Matt, while others travelled even further, including Samantha Gagen, who journeyed from Beverley in East Yorkshire.
