SNOW White panto star Leah Murphy proved she really was the fairest of them all - after winning a date on a top telly dating show.
The actress, 22, who will take to the stage at the Civic Theatre tonight for curtain up on the town’s annual panto, comes to Doncaster fresh from an appearance on smash hit ITV programme Take Me Out.
And it was ‘heigh-ho, heigh-ho it’s off on a date we go’ after Leah triumphed from 30 hopefuls on the show where single women compete against each other to land themselves a man.
She said: “It was a good laugh and I was lucky enough to get picked. The reaction has been really great and I really enjoyed going on the show.”
Leah, who hails from Liverpool, proved she certainly wasn’t bashful when she landed a date with Leicester-based film director Matthew Axon.
But she admits that the pair’s date didn’t quite live up to expectations.
“We got on OK, but just as friends,” she said. “Not quite a happy ending, but we had a laugh.”
From this evening Leah, who has been acting since the age of 12, will have seven men in her life when she steps into the limelight .
The performance of Snow White is the Civic’s very last pantomime before productions switch to the newly-named Cast performance venue which will open next year.
Leah will be starring alongside Tracy Beaker, Waterloo Road and Emmerdale star Kay Purcell, who plays the Wicked Queen as well as comic Nigel Peever for the four week-run of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs which comes to an end on January 6.
Added Leah, who has been busy rehearsing for her starring role for weeks: “I love playing pantomime - I have done a few before and every year I enjoy doing them.”
