SOUTH Yorkshire schoolboys Daniel Moody and Luke Jones enjoyed top medal success at this year’s Scottish National Taekwondo Championships.

Daniel, aged 12, won bronze and Luke, 11, silver in the 37kg class at the event held at Larbert.

Luke narrowly missed out on gold after losing a nail-biting final.

The Penistone Grammar School pupils are both members of the 12 strong Quest Taekwondo Team which is based at the secondary.

Both boys will be competing throughout the UK and internationally during 2013, while Luke is set to train with World Champion Sarah Stevenson next month.

He said: “I’m really happy that I will get to train with a taekwondo World Champion and Olympic bronze medallist, and I will learn all that I can to help me get even better at my sport.”

Coach Mike McKenzie, who was sports manager for the London 2012 Olympic Games Taekwondo Event, aims to build Penistone into a key venue for the sport.
