Help to make town’s history

BARNSLEY will be making history on Saturday with a family day at The Civic on Hanson Street.

More than 1,200 people attended last year’s event - part of Experience Barnsley: the Barnsley People’s Museum and Archives Centre, being created at the Town Hall thanks to a £2.6m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Circus acts, singers, and musicians will be performing on Saturday, when Medieval knights will rampage across Mandela Gardens and Second World War Land Army girls will greet visitors.

Activities will include face-painting, dressing up, building a huge cardboard model Town Hall and helping to write the Barnsley People’s Poem with ‘Bard of Barnsley’ Ian McMillan.
