FOR he’s an Olly good fellow…
Shame the same can’t be said for Mr Murs’ trousers which split last night and threatened to send a near all-female audience at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena into overload.
Luckily the chirpy Essex entertainer had a handful of costumes for a show in which 12,000 fans turned this into the noisiest place in northern England.
In just two years Olly has gone from X Factor runner up to one of the nation’s best-loved singing stars – so no wonder he smiled pretty much all the way through his time with his army of South Yorkshire admirers.
A lively show that included a Madness medley and a walkway above out-stretched arms put his fitness as well as his clothes and voice to the test – a wall of screams ensuing whenever the ‘Olly Wiggle’ made an appearance.
The same went for debut single Please Don’t Let Me Go and other number ones, encore Heart Skips A Beat and Dance With Me Tonight, at times Olly in danger of being drowned out by those who had paid to hear him sing.
Then again their host had a 10-piece band and pyrotechnics behind him in a big budget show which sent the crowds home whistling the sunshine reggae of Thinking Of Me and other merry Murs moments, banishing all thoughts of arctic Attercliffe.
