TICKETS were sold out for a carol concert starring musical youngsters which raised the roof – and over £3,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
People packed into Sheffield Cathedral to hear songs old and new from pupils at Dobcroft and Ecclesall Church junior schools on Tuesday evening.
Sonitus – an all female a capella group at King Edward VIII School – delighted crowds along with The New Testament Worship Band and members of Singing for the Brain, a group for people with dementia and carers.
Barnsley poet Ian McMillan also sparked chuckles with a reading of his poem Yorkshire Pudding Rules.
Organiser Amy Casbolt, society community fundraiser, said support had been ‘overwhelming’.
