Sheffield’s 238-year-old hallmarking office is offering valuations to the public on jewellery, watches and silverware.
The Sheffield Assay Office, one of only four remaining assay offices in the UK, has collaborated with the Guild of Valuers and Jewellers to offer valuation days which will take place both at the Assay Office and jewellers’ premises.
Assay master Ashley Carson said: “With the rise in cost of precious metals customers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of having their valuables properly appraised.
“We’d encourage anyone to take the opportunity to have their items valued.”
The first valuation day will take place at Sheffield Assay Office on Thursday, December 1.
