Ohhh those summer nights...Richard Morgan will show he really is ‘the one that they want’ when he takes on the role of Danny Zuko in Grease.
And donning the leather jacket will be a proud moment for the 26-year-old, who lost out on the part in the hit ITV show Grease Is The Word in 2007.
“I was so upset when I didn’t win the ITV contest,” said Richard, from Rotherham.
“But LS Theatre Productions have given me the opportunity to show what I can do and show the West End what they are missing and it feels amazing to finally be putting that leather jacket on and making the role my own.”
Richard and the rest of the cast are busy in rehearsals, preparing for the June 17 opening night at Barnsley’s Take Two Academy.
“Danny Zuko is a dream role for any male and it’s a real honour to be playing him in Grease’s 35th anniversary year,” said Richard, who was a plasterer when he made it to the final 10 on Grease Is The Word, which was seeking two unknowns to play the lead roles on the West End.
He added: “I still hope to someday fulfil my ambition of performing on the West End.”
