Musicians are set to make sweet music in a new rehearsal space.
Plans to build a new hut for Oughtibridge Brass Band have been approved by Sheffield Council. Work to extend its building is expected to start on the new space, which will also provide a place for its training band to practise, early next year.
Gavin Somerset, musical director of Oughtibridge Brass Band, said: “The Don Valley has a wonderful tradition of music making but many of its bands and choirs do struggle for funding. The new band hut is set to secure the future of the band for many decades to come.”
A disabled toilet and kitchen area will be added to the building as part of the extension. The band will now embark on a fundraising mission to get cash to complete it.
