DONCASTER’S annual gay pride event is switching venues again.

Last year the festival was held at Doncaster Racecourse, after previously being staged around Doncaster Market.

But organisers say they are changing venue again, and this year’s event will be at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday August 20.

A spokesman for the event said it had had three great years in the market but, due to the large numbers attending, grew too big and for safety reasons had to move.

He described last year’s event at the racecourse as ‘amazing’, but added that organisers had decided to switch after looking at their options.

The event will start with a Walk of Unity procession through Doncaster town centre. Then the main event at the stadium will open at 2pm.

Performances on the main stage will run from 3pm until 10pm.

There will also be a funfair, stalls and children’s rides.

Admission will be £3 but free for under 16s. Details of the line-up of acts have still to be announced.
