residents will be able to enjoy one of Tickhill’s big social events today when the Scouts stage their 38th annual gala at the Tithes Lane recreation ground.
It starts with floats decorated by schools, groups and organisations being judged on Wong Lane at 12.45pm, before the parade sets off at 1.15pm to make its way through the town led by Bramley Brass Marching Band, a fancy dress parade and the gala queen and her attendants.
The parade arrives at the Tithes Lane recreation ground at 2pm for the official opening by Mayor of Tickhill Raymond Hill, the announcement by Group Scout Leader Bob Kitchen of the best float, and the official crowning of the Gala Queen.
Entertainment includes a fancy dress competition, face painting, puppet show, roundabouts, bouncy castle, and crafts.
There will be displays by chainsaw sculptor Ben Loughrill, Bezerkas Circus Workshop, Ridgeside Falconry, Green Oak Morris Men and Doncaster Traditional Car Club.
