A DONCASTER youth sports team is celebrating after receiving a cash donation worth hundreds of pounds from the First bus company.

Doncaster Devils U14 rugby team has been given £500 to buy new tracksuits and to help fund travel for an end of season tour next year.

The club, which plays at Castle Park and is part of the Doncaster Knights set-up, currently has 40 players.

First has recently set up a regional charity committee to consider requests for funding from groups and organisations to provide charitable support in line with three specific criteria - young people, health and the environment.

Devils committee member Traci Hartle said: “This is great news and I would like to thank First for its kind donation.

“As every sports club knows, raising money is an ongoing process and this contribution will make a real difference. We plan to use the money to buy some new team tracksuits and anything left over will go towards funding a club trip next year.”
