Final call for chance to open Sheffield Tramlines

Have your say

A FINAL call has been made for bands and DJs wanting to win the chance to kick off Sheffield’s Tramlines music festival this year.

The deadline for entries is Friday, and entrants will then face a public vote.

The top eight in separate categories for bands and solo artists, and DJs and producers, will then be asked to appear at finalists’ gigs where the winners will be chosen by panels of judges.

Details on how bands and artists can apply are available on the Tramlines facebook page at

The gig for DJ finalists takes place at DQ on Friday, May 4, while the gig for bands and solo artists will be on Saturday, May 19, at The Leadmill.

The live finalists’ shows will be open to the public and proceeds from entry fees will go straight back into helping to fund the festival.

Tramlines will take place over the weekend of July 20 to 22.

Last year’s Tramlines event attracted 175,000 people - as many as attended Glastonbury, traditionally the biggest event of the UK’s festival calendar.
