GET on the trail of Easter eggs over the holidays with lots of family fun events going on.

Get hunting for 10 tokens hidden in Chapeltown Park on Saturday (March 23) from 10am to noon and take them to the bandstand to claim your free eggs.

There is an Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt at Rother Valley Country Park on Easter weekend (March 29 to 31).

Follow the Easter Bunny and Carrot Trail and find the large Easter eggs hanging from the trees in the park. Children win a prize when they hand in a completed quiz sheet.

The event starts from the courtyard area between 11 am and 3pm and entry costs £1.

The Easter Bunny will be appearing in the courtyard from 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Children who dress as an Easter Bunny or Easter Chick or wear an Easter bonnet get an extra prize.

At Heeley City Farm in Sheffield, children aged 10 and under on the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday March 30 can follow the clues to find the hidden letters. They will spell out two words on the Easter theme.

Youngsters who get them right can claim a prize and no-one goes home with an empty Easter basket!

Entry costs £1.50, including a raffle ticket for a big chocolate egg, and all the money raised goes to help the farm.

The event takes place from noon to 2pm.

At Manor Oaks Farm at Sheffield Manor Lodge, children can hunt for hidden eggs, create some special Easter crafts and follow the farm trail to the chickens.

The event takes place on Easter Monday (April 1) from 10.30am to 1pm. Price is £3 per child. To book, call 0114 276 2828. Families can hunt for giant steel Easter eggs during the school holidays at Magna Science Adventure Centre, Rotherham.

The centre has organised the Easter egg hunt with prizes and children can also make a grass head with real grass that will grow to give the head hair.

There is also an opportunity to handle giant creepy crawlies like tarantulas and snakes during a visit by experts from Animals In-Tuition. And the more adventurous can ride down a zip wire at 25mph and a height of 75ft.

Holiday events in the Peak Park include Make Your Own Easter Egg sessions at the Cocoadance workshop at Mam Farm in Castleton, home to the makers of delicious handmade chocolate. There are Easter Egg Trails at Ilam Park near Ashbourne and the Longshaw Estate near Sheffield daily from Good Friday to Easter Monday, running from 11am to 4pm.

Follow the Easter Egg Trail and win a prize. Face painting and a colouring competition are included for the price of £3.

They’re going a bit more high-tech in Barnsley. Instead of ancient maps, explorers will be using GPS devices to find the hidden haul.

Team Activ has organised two days of geocaching at Wentworth Castle.

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices such as mobile phones or sat navs. Participants navigate to a set of GPS co-ordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden there.

The event takes place at Wentworth Castle, Stainborough on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday 7 from 10am to 3pm.

There are challenges to suit all ages and abilities with prizes for cracking the code. Tuition is available and families are asked to bring a GPS device, although Team Activ does have some. Email in advance to to borrow one.

The cost is £4 adults, £2 children and £10 family ticket (two adults and two children).

Get crafty with the Kids Arts Academy over the Easter holidays.

They are running art and cookery events every day, plus an Animation club on Wednesdays and Advanced Art on Thursdays.

Classes for children aged four to 11 run from Tues April 2 to Friday 12.

Advanced classes, for youngsters up to 15, take place on Thursday April 4 and 11 and Animation Club is Wednesday April 3 and 10.

Cookery classes for children aged four to seven and eight to 14 are held on April 2 to 12.
