A sleighful of Christmas entertainment is coming to Sheffield – with a Santa’s grotto, themed market, real reindeer and magical lights.
The seasonal attractions will be launched on Sunday, November 17, with carol singing, street entertainers and fairground rides in the Peace Gardens from 2pm, followed by the Christmas lights switch-on at 5.30pm.
Real Radio Breakfast presenters Dave ‘Dixie’ Dixon and Gayle Lofthouse will be flipping the switch.
The same day, The Moor’s Christmas tree will be switched on at 3pm and youngsters can meet TV and film characters on the Town Hall steps.
Children are also encouraged to don fancy dress.
Santa will be moving into his own grotto on Fargate alongside a festive-themed sleigh bar.
Also on Fargate, there will be a Christmas market with more than 40 stallholders from Friday, November 15.
The British Heart Foundation’s Santa Jog will be taking place once again on Sunday, December 8, from Tudor Square, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, with registration from 1pm and the race from 2pm.
Elsewhere, youngsters can take part in a Christmas elf trail between November 17 and December 8, at the Winter Garden.
Reduced parking rates will be available on November 17 at the NCP car park on Arundel Gate, while Sunday parking at council-owned on-street or off-street car parks is £1 all day in the run-up to Christmas.
