ARTISTS have been channelling their relationship with Sheffield into a new collection of work.

Urban, at the Cupola Gallery in Hillsborough, showcases art from more than 30 students and graduates, exploring how the city influences them.

Artists who have contributed come from a range of disciplines, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and jewellery.

From Paul Matosic’s cubes formed from electrical cables, to cast ceramic bottles made from discarded detritus, to linocuts of local landmarks, the exhibition celebrates Sheffield’s industrial past and its modern status as one of the UK’s greenest places.

Cupola managing director Karen Sherwood said: “This exhibition has tried to show how our urban landscape is not all ‘urban decay and misery’ but a mixture of beauty and ugliness that both repels and charms us.”
