YOUNGSTERS from a Doncaster school hit the stage to get ready for their exams.

Armthorpe School pupils took part in a concert at their school’s Mere Lane building as a warm-up for recording music that will go towards their GCSE grades.

The event was named Armthorpe Songbook and members of school staff joined the pupils in a concert in front of an audience of 80 people.

The acts ranged from a soul band, which performed songs including Signed, Sealed, Delivered, to solo acts.

Head of music Rachael Bradley was delighted with the event and hopes to repeat it again for future years at the school.

She said: “We wanted to showcase their talent.

“They were really good, and they have had offers of gigs as a result of what they did at the Armthorpe Songbook.

“I was really proud watching them, because I’ve been teaching them since they first started here at Armthorpe and have seen how they have come on.”
