The picture is among a batch of shots of werewolves and other scary critters at what looks like a student Halloween bash.
The prints, developed by Jessops on Commercial Street in the city centre, were mistakenly handed to Conrad Lorenz, aged 69.
He discovered the error - there was no sign of his shots - 24 hours later and returned, but there has been no word from the other photographer.
Mr Lorenz, of Stead Road, Nether Edge, thinks two batches of the party pictures may have been printed and the owner may have Conrad's negatives.
