the owners of a new cafe and bistro in Tickhill, Doncaster, hosted a family fun day to mark its opening.
Wellington’s, at the town’s Cherry Lane Garden Centre on Bawtry Road, opened two weeks ago under the ownership of Robert Darby and Tom Vincent.
Robert said: “We think the name Wellington’s is most appropriate in this garden centre location! We have a wide experience of the catering business as we run two Belleandjerome restaurants in Nottingham.
“We will shortly have a pair of Wellington’s as we are opening a second café and bistro at the Cherry Lane Garden Centre at Bradmore in south Nottinghamshire.
“We are delighted to be here in Tickhill where we will be delivering new standards of food served in warm, welcoming and comfortable surroundings. It is a destination café at a destination garden centre.”
All the staff from the previous café have been retained and in total there are 16 employees. The café is open all day from 9am to 5pm and on Sundays a traditional carvery roast is served.
The family fun day also saw the launch of a sunflower growing competition for children, who were able plant a sunflower seed, put their name on the label, and then watch it grow over the coming summer.
The grower of the tallest sunflower will win the prize of a carvery for all the family.
Magician Paul Grundle was also performing tricks.
