Shoppers dreaming of a lively Christmas had their dreams come true as a popular celebrity duo switched on the festive lights at Crystal Peaks.

Hundreds of screaming children watched CBBC’s madcap stars, Dick and Dom switch on the Crystal Peaks shopping centre Christmas lights last night.

A sleigh full of events kept the Christmas cheer alive before Dic and Dom took to the Capital FM stage.

Little tots piled on to their dad’s shoulders to catch a glimpse of their television heros.

The White family, of Halfway, have attended the Crystal Peaks light switch on four years running. Mum, Katy, 39, said: “It’s fun and gets the whole family in the Christmas spirit.”

Daughters, Ashley, 10 and Libby, four, couldn’t take their eyes off the stage.

A special set from X Factor finalist of 2012, Janet Devlin, wowed the hundreds who gathered around the stage, spilling into surrounding shops.

Known by friends as ‘Mr Lights switch on’, christmas fan, Scott Reynolds, 34, from Halfway, watched the celeb duo countdown to christmas, with excited daughter, Lily, 5, on his shoulders and daughter Holly, 10, by his side.

He said: “I seem to be touring the Sheffield christmas light switch on events this year - they really get you into the christmas spirit and the girls love it.”

There was also a fantastic Irish Riverdance show making the crowd jig and jive.

Crystal Peaks 25th anniversary celebrations and lights switch on was hosted by Capital FM Breakfast presenter Hirsty.

Elves from the Crystal Peaks Santa’s Grotto Elf School got the children excited for Santa’s arrival nextmonth.

Sheffield-born star Richard McCourt and his telly partner Dominic Wood pushed the plunger marking the climax of a fun-filled evening for all the family.

The crowd left the mall excited for the festivities.
