THE Woodseats and District Darts League are aiming for more than a million as they step up to the oche to support St Luke’s Hospice.

The bar sports fans are aiming for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as they embark on a bid to become the fastest team to reach a score of 1,000,001.

And at the same time they’ll be raising money St Luke’s Hospice, where team member Derek Spencer’s brother Tony received care and support during his battle with cancer.

The record breaking event at The Cross Scythes pub on Derbyshire Lane, Sheffield, starts on October 21 and is expected to run, without a break, until October 23.

The marathon session is being sponsored by brewery Carlsberg and has been registered with the Guinness Book of World Records.

“Having seen the standard of care my brother received at St Luke’s I knew I had to do something for the hospice in return,” said Derek.

“We’ll be starting at 1pm on the Friday and simply keep throwing until we reach that target of one million and one.”
