Professional dancers will lead an ‘exciting’ programme of events in a Sheffield suburb over the summer.
Dance On! takes place in Parson Cross and includes a live performance every month up to September.
Organisers hope to attract people of all ages from across the city to take part or watch.
Each performance will have a different theme, including jive, hip hop, ballroom, line and folk.
The new public square next to the Library Learning Zone, on Wordsworth Avenue, Parson Cross, will host the full programme of live dance events.
The first will be on Thursday, May 23, which will include performances from The Dance Bessy’s, the steel band from Chaucer School and dance students from Longley College.
Chaucer students from the street dance after-school club, which is run by hip hop dance group Rationale’s Nathan Geering, will also have the chance to perform alongside their tutor.
Dance On! has been organised by Maire McCarthy Projects and Sheffield Council.
Coun Isobel Bowler, Sheffield Council cabinet member for culture, said: “The programme of dance events and classes provides a wonderful opportunity for lots of people to enjoy something a bit different.”
