STRICTLY they’re not dancers but a group of Sheffield solicitors who swapped their law books for dance shoes and tripped the light fantastic at a charity event to raise cash for Weston Park Hospital.
Legal eagles from Irwin Mitchell took part in a Strictly Come Dancing-style event at Sheffield City Hall.
Tickets and a raffle on the night raised £12,000, which was matched by health insurance firm Westfield.
The event was organised as part of the hospital’s ‘Do Your Bit’ fundraising campaign, aimed at raising £1.3 million for a new Cancer Research and Treatment Suite.
The seven solicitors involved were trained at City Limits dance studios on Penistone Road, owned by former Strictly Come Dancing stars Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova.
Winner Martin Loxley, who mastered a Bollywood routine, said: “It was very nerve-wracking, as for some of us this was completely out of our comfort zone. But the atmosphere on the night was superb and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
“We all got involved because we wanted to support the work of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.”
Rachel Thorpe, charity director, said: “It was a fantastic evening, with an amazing atmosphere. We would like to say a huge thank you.”
