A NEW government training incentive could encourage the next generation of young hair stylists to pick up their scissors and start cutting.
The Headlines Elite Academy – one of the region’s best training schools for the hairdressing industry – is promoting the scheme which encourages salons to recruit apprentices.
The grant aid offers £1,500 to salons that take on apprentices aged 16 to 18, and £750 for apprentices aged 19 to 25.
The funding is available from now until March and each salon can have up to three apprentices signed up under the terms of the grant.
“This is fantastic news for the industry,” said Headlines Elite Academy head Andrea Carrington. “This really is a great way of covering the costs of taking on an apprentice and developing new talent.”
