Farmers are being asked to pitch in again this winter to help keep roads clear of snow.
Extra help is needed to grit and clear roads to isolated villages, industrial areas and schools not already on a gritting route in Derbyshire.
And, for the second year running, the county council - which already grits 1,555 miles of roads itself - is offering a minimum payment of £200 to all the volunteers who are signed up to help - even if it doesn’t snow.
This year the county council is aiming to get even more people on board, particularly in Killamarsh, areas of Chesterfield including Holymoorside, Brimington and Staveley, and in Baslow, Calver, Bolsover, Tibshelf, Buxton and Bakewell.
Call 01629 538 529 before August 31 to sign up.
