Comedy set in wartime

A TASTE of Yorkshire during the Second World War will be brought to the Doncaster Civic Theatre next month in a new comedy by ex-Hull Truck Theatre writer and director Kate Bramley.

Bad Apple Theatre Company will present The Land Girls of Yorkshire as part of Doncaster Hothouse Festival on Wednesday March 16.

The play – based on the reminiscences of real-life Land Army Girls – will take audiences back to 1942 to celebrate the highs and lows of the wonderful women who helped keep Britain fed during the Second World War.

Set against a backdrop of glorious music of the age, it also features new tunes by Radio 2’s Sony Academy Award winner Jez Lowe.

Tickets for the show, starting at 7.30pm, cost £10, and £8 for concessions.
