DONCASTER is set for an injection of laughter, after Dome bosses announced plans for the town’s first ever Comedy Festival.
The event, which will take place between February 8 and February 12 next year, will see a number of well known stand up comedians perform at the Doncaster Dome in Bawtry Road.
Two acts who have already signed up are Steve Hughes, who will appear in the Icebreaker Bar on Friday, February 10 and Omid Djalili, who will be in the main hall on Saturday, February 11.
Michael Hart, interim chief executive, said work was ongoing to attract more acts.
He said: “We have built a strong reputation for hosting well-known and up-and-coming comedians at the Dome.
“Residents of the town always come out in force to support this type of event and we attract many from the neighbouring areas.
“February is traditionally wet and dark with the post Christmas blues well and truly set in, so we felt it would be a perfect time to bring laughter to the region.
“We are already in talks with others to make this festival something to remember.”
