IT’S no yoke - give this little group a clap-per for their ringing improvisation.

Church bells are set to be sounded across the country at 8.12am tomorrow to mark the opening day of the Olympic Games.

Except there’s one slight problem for St Thomas’s United Anglican Baptist Free Church, in Gilpin Street, Upperthorpe.

“We don’t have a church bell,” says network operations manager Debs Davies.

The solution? Members will gather with any bells they can get their hands on - from traditional dongers to alarm clocks, bicycle chimes and mobile telephones - to ring up a right old racket.

“We didn’t want to miss out,” adds Debs. “This seems like a perfect solution. Now we are looking forward to being part of something that unifies churches across the nation.”
