CHARITY Parkinson’s UK is sending its mascot on a 470-mile relay tour across the region which includes stops in Sheffield and Barnsley.

Noodle, a person dressed as a giant ‘brain cell’, will be making the trip to mark Parkinson’s Awareness Week 2012, from April 16 to 22. Along the route, Noodle will be welcomed and accompanied by the charity’s 23 local groups.

At noon on April 17, Noodle will be arriving in Barnsley by bicycle to be greeted by the mayor and members of the Barnsley and district branch of Parkinson’s UK before continuing to Sheffield by train and Supertram.

Philip Thompson, of Parkinson’s UK Barnsley and district branch, said: “The relay is a fun way to make people aware of the need to fund research.”
