FEARS have been raised that Sheffield’s hilly terrain could mean some areas of the city will be unable to receive its planned new local TV station.
Labour MPs Clive Betts and Meg Munn are to meet industry regulator Ofcom to discuss the concerns.
Ofcom has awarded the franchise for the channel to consortium SLTV, which is set to begin broadcasting at the end of next year.
Mr Betts, who represents Sheffield South East, said: “The development of community TV is an exciting prospect.
“However, because of the city’s terrain and the restrictions on transmission frequencies, many households – particularly in the east of the city – simply won’t be able to watch.”
