Celebrating Scots heritage

Have your say

SOUTH Yorkshire folk with a proud Scots ancestry are strapping on their sporrans and giving their kilts a press ready to attend a Tartan Ball being staged by the Yorkshire district branch of the Burns Federation on Saturday, April 13.

The annual Yorkshire Burns Federation Ball will take place at The Ardsley House Hotel in Barnsley.

Guests will wear Highland dress or evening suits - with a compulsory flash of tartan - and will be served a tasty three-course dinner from a menu featuring cock-a-leekie soup, smoked salmon oatcake, Scotch egg, poached salmon with cullen skink, and mixed berry Cranachan.

Ian MacPhail and his Scottish Dance Band will provide the music, and chief guest will be the federation’s world president, Robert Stewart.
