Student Maxine Sykes is taking the first steps to modelling stardom after wnning a top national competition.
Maxine, aged 20, from the Hope Valley, is studying exhibition and museum design at university. But her studies could be put on hold after she was awarded the Top Model competition Editorial Award.
As well as the top accolade, Maxine also received a luxury spa day worth £500 as well as 12 months of free hair care and £250 worth of skin care vouchers.
She will also have professional photoshoots with top fashion photographers Collin Chau and Sarah Olivier and the invitation to take part in a casting call for her first major London fashion event.
“It’s really exciting and I can’t really believe it’s happened,” said Maxine. “I’m starting to build up a portfolio to take around some agencies as well as looking forward to whatever else Top Model have planned, so this really is a time of change for me.
“I signed up for the competition not expecting anything to come of it and now I’m just taking it one step at a time.”
Lynda Price, owner of the Lynda V Price Salon and Spa on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, sponsored Maxine throughout the competition. “We’re enormously proud,” she said.
