Shopkeepers in a thriving Sheffield suburb are toasting local trade - by enjoying a cuppa from new mugs designed to celebrate their businesses.

The Crookes mug features the names and logos of more than 80 shops, pubs, restaurants, offices and firms all trading from the suburb’s bustling streets.

It is being sold online and from four Crookes shops - deli Urban Pantry, card shop Space 205, fruit and veg shop Just Natural and flower shop Bouquet Florist.

The mugs are the idea of Rob Duffin from the Sheffield Mug Co, who developed the typographical cups after talking to several traders in the area.

He said they are already proving popular with people looking for a souvenir of Crookes life, either for themselves or as a gift for someone with a connection to the area.

Such has been demand for the mugs that two of the stockists have already ordered more .

Rob, aged 44, who lives on Heavygate Road in Crookes, said: “Everyone has been really positive about the idea and keen to be involved.

“Many people are surprised at the number of businesses on the mug – including the traders themselves!”

Reece Lippolis from Urban Pantry said: “I put them in the shop, then mentioned them on our social media accounts. There was a big response with people asking me to put them to one side and coming in for them.”

Each trader featured gave permission for their logo to be used as part of the mugs’ design.

Rob designed and produced the mugs himself and now has plans to cover other areas of Sheffield too.

“I have even had requests to stock mugs I haven’t designed yet!” he said.

The Crookes mugs are also available at or on or through

The mugs cost £6.50 each.
