A tasty banger on a bonfire night theme is set to tickle the tastebuds of children in primary schools across Derbyshire.
Created by five-year-old Mia Brealey, the British Standard Traffic Light Banger will be served up on November 5 in every primary across the county to celebrate National School Meals Week.
The tasty dish was created for a competition organised by the county council’s school catering service.
Featuring minced pork, a special selection of spices and chopped peppers, Mia’s designer sausage saw off competition from almost 400 other young culinary hopefuls.
It will be served with tricolour pasta spirals in a red pepper and tomato sauce, sweetcorn and peas to echo the colours of a traffic light firework.
Around 70,000 will be cooked and consumed in the build up to Bonfire Night.
