Blaze OAP saved by bell

An elderly Dronfield woman was alerted to a fire in her home by a neighbour who heard her smoke alarm sounding.

The OAP got out of her home unharmed and firefighters who arrived to tackle the blaze discovered some burning paper had been pushed through her letter box and set fire to some rugs.

Police officers investigating the fire on Central Close, Unstone, Derbyshire, want to hear from witnesses or anyone with information about the culprit.

The fire broke out between 5.30pm and 5.55pm on Thursday January 13.

Anyone with information should call Derbyshire Police.
