Ex-Sheffield United footballers – including boxer Curtis Woodhouse – are set to kick off against a team of celebrities.
A team of former Blades will face Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks soap stars including Jack McCullen, Ceallech Spellman, Danny Miller and Anthony Quinlan as well as boy band 911 in a one-off match for charity.
The game, at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane ground, will be refereed by World Cup official Howard Webb and proceeds from the game will be donated to the Once Upon A Smile Foundation and Prostate Cancer UK.
United’s squad includes Chris Morgan, goalkeeper Paul Gerrard, Craig Short, Keith Curle, Rob Hulse, Georges Santos, Ian Bennett, David Holdsworth and Ian Bryson.
Other celebrities include former Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas, Adam Long, Luke Roskell, Nico Mallegro and Joe Gill.
Former Blades captain Chris Morgan said: “It’s great to see so many ex-Blades and celebs come together for wonderful causes.
“I’m sure all the players are keen to put on a Blades kit once again and the celebs will be looking forward to playing at Bramall Lane.
“The day, though, is all about raising vital funds for the two worthwhile charities and it would be fantastic to see as many people as possible come down and show their support.”
* The event will take place on Sunday, May 18, with kick off at 1pm. Tickets, priced from £6 for adults and £1 for children, are now available from 0871 995 1889.
