A YOUNGSTER from Doncaster is dancing for joy after winning a West End role in the musical Billy Elliot.

Thomas Moore, a pupil at Saltersgate Junior School in Scawsby, will share a house with the other young stars of the show from August while he is performing in the production as Billy’s best friend, Michael.

The role follows an incredible year-long audition process.

Thomas, aged 10, is the second Doncaster dancer to play the part of Michael. His family friend Bradley Wilson also played the part in 2008.

Thomas has been part of the Scawsby-based Jackie Everton Dance and Stage School for three years.

It is expected he will live in London, close to the Victoria Palace Theatre, for up to two years as part of a rotation of youngsters playing Michael.

The multi-Laurence Olivier Award winning production first pirouetted its way onto the boards in 2005, with the music written by Sir Elton John. Since then over seven million tickets have sold.
