Tickets for the biggest beer competition in the country - which is returning to real ale capital Sheffield for a third time - go on sale today.
The Society of Independent Brewers has announced its annual BeerX Festival of Beer for 2015, with around 6,000 people expected to attend.
Its flagship beer industry event includes the UK’s biggest national beer competition, and it is the largest festival in the UK to serve keg beer as well as cask and bottled ales.
Ale fans will be able to sample 250 different award-winning beers as well as entertainment and food, from March 17 to 21.
Sheffield ukulele band The Everly Pregnant Brothers will take to the stage on the Friday night, rugby matches will be screened on the Saturday, and Sheffield group The Bootleggers will also star on stage.
Nick Stafford, the society’s commercial director, said: “BeerX has grown steadily over the last couple of years and Sheffield is very much its home - we’re excited to return to the city for a third year for an event that promises to be bigger and better than the last.”
The festival will be held at iceSheffield and feature a 30- metre bar. There will also be a trade exhibition, seminars and keynote speakers for industry delegates.
Emma France, business tourism manager at Marketing Sheffield, said: “We are delighted SIBA has again chosen to host this influential event in Sheffield.
“Sheffield is currently making a strong claim to Britain’s Beer Capital crown and BeerX highlights the city’s independent brewing profile.”
