A theatre company is on the hunt for an aspiring actor to play the lead role in its upcoming Barnsley production.

LS Theatre Productions is to bring its adaptation of the popular play Kes to the Lamproom Theatre in March, but is yet to find a young male actor for the part of Billy Casper.

Director Lee Semley, said: “We are looking for a local lad between the ages of 12 and 18. I don’t want a trained actor as I feel this wouldn’t work for the iconic role of Billy Casper made famous by Barnsley actor Dai Bradley in the 1969 film of the same name.

“The character of Billy needs to be fierce, untamed and dangerous but with a element of fragility. Very much like the bird Kes that Billy rears and trains.”
