A running-mad couple have signed up to run 500k and raise £10,000 this year - in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.
Joe Worthington, aged 36, and his wife Debbie, 34, from Barnsley, have set themselves the challenge to mark the tenth anniversary of Debbie’s diagnosis with MS.
Among the events Joe is taking part in is this year’s Yorkshire Half Marathon in Sheffield next Sunday.
Debbie said: “The MS Trust is a great charity that makes a difference to so many people’s lives by making unbiased information available to people with MS and providing training for the specialist nurses that keep an eye on us.
“Ten years on from my diagnosis I decided it was time for us to set ourselves a challenge and say thank you.”
Debbie started running last March and ran her first 10km after four months.
She loved it and is now getting ready to run over 100k in organised events, working up to her first half marathon in September.
Debbie said: “Joe has been running a lot longer than me and so it is only fair that he runs further. He will be running over 350k, including three marathons.”
