Barnsley museum wins award for education programmes

A South Yorkshire museum has won a top award for the quality of its education programmes for schools.

Cannon Hall Museum at Cawthorne near Barnsley has won the Sandford Award for Heritage Education, with judges saying its programmes are ‘delivered in a way that engages, informs and inspires visitors’.

Sessions at the Georgian country house see children immersed in activities to give them insights into the lives of a Victorian servant or a wartime evacuee, working in the Victorian kitchen on a variety of tasks.
