A COLLIERY band is hoping to hit the high notes at a fundraising concert.

The Grimethorpe Colliery Band will perform a charity concert at Sheffield Citadel Salvation Army Corps, Psalter Lane, Nether Edge, on Thursday, November 29.

Members will perform its second concert at the corps, having raised more than £1,000 at a previous concert to support the church’s work.

This year’s fundraiser will support the church’s alternative, midweek family church, called eXpressions.

Corps officer Major Paul Westlake said: “Through eXpressions, the corps has provided families with opportunities to take a break for informal church-based activities, to spend time together in a relaxed, safe environment and enjoy a nutritious meal cooked on site.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 and are available by calling 01709 703 395 or 07884 012 524.
