Bambi takes a canter through her meadow as she recovers from being shot in the face with a 20-inch crossbow bolt.

The 10-year-old pony was shot in the nose by a bolt which went four inches deep.

The RSPCA is still appealing for help to catch the perpetrator of the ‘horrific and deliberate act of animal cruelty’ in Hoyland, Barnsley.

A concerned animal lover whose horse shares a field with Bambi said: “Thankfully Bambi is on the mend.

“She is getting back to her normal self even though she is still a bit subdued.”
