AN INDIAN restaurant near Doncaster has picked up an award in a national competition.
Paradise Restaurant, in Bircotes, reached fourth place in the best local restaurant category in the national Tiffin Cup competition.
The Indian restaurant was nominated by Bassetlaw MP John Mann this year. He had previously nominated other Bassetlaw restaurants for the awards.
Restaurants which had been put forward were visited by secret judges and the Paradise restaurant succeeded in achieving first place in the East Midlands.
John Mann and Bassetlaw Council chairman Coun David Challinor visited the restaurant to present it with its certificate.
Mr Mann praised the site and said he thought the restaurant’s quality was “superb”.
He said: “It is a remarkable achievement.
“The restaurant has only been open for 18 months and they were competing against restaurants that have been open for 30 or 40 years.”
