Chesterfield Art Club is holding a free one-day exhibition on Saturday, June 23, at Rowsley Village Hall, School Lane, Rowsley, from 10am to 5pm.

More than 40 of the club members will be exhibiting around 150 of their original pictures, most of which are for sale. Rowsley’s Well Dressing, close by, is also on display from Saturday.

Cuban rhythms

SHEFFIELD Oratio Chorus is leading a Cuban music workshop at St Matthew’s Church, Calver Street, from 5pm on June 30. From 7.30pm songs from different cultures and British folk songs from the Oratio women’s choir take place. Camerata Vocal de Música Áurea, on tour in the UK from Santiago de Cuba, star. The Aurea choir of Santiago will also perform at city centre restaurant Platillos in Leopold Square on July 4 at 9pm. Entry is free.

Charity’s meeting

SHEFFIELD charity Homeless and Rootless at Christmas, which organises festive dinners for the vulnerable, is holding its AGM at 7pm on July 12. The event is at the Wilson Carlisle Centre, Cavendish Street, Sheffield, and there will be tea, coffee and a buffet. Email harc.sheffield@virgin.net to attend.

LAWYER Michaela Heathcote raised more than £1,000 for breast cancer charities by completing the London Moonwalk. Michaela, head of family law at Sheffield firm Taylor and Emmet, took on the 26.2-mile overnight walk around the capital.

Learn basic French

A FREE course in French is being offered to people in Barnsley. The three-week beginners’ course will run from Barnsley Council’s adult learning department from next Wednesday, June 13, from 7pm to 9pm. Sessions will then take place on June 20 and 27.

Help the blind

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help blind and partially sighted people get out and about in Rotherham. Anyone over 18 able to commit to at least two hours per week is eligible. Call 0845 372 7424.
